Meteorologist
Erica Meyer joined KRQE as the new morning meteorologist fall of 2019 and is excited to call New Mexico her new home.
Erica spent three years at WBND in South Bend, Indiana, where she worked as a meteorologist. During her time there she tracked an EF2 tornado, live. She also covered record river flooding, severe thunderstorm damage, lake effect snowstorms, and visited dozens of schools sharing her knowledge and passion for weather with students.
Before living in South Bend, she was a meteorologist and reporter at KNBN in Rapid City, SD and in 2017 was the Keynote Speaker at the annual Rapid City Women in Science Conference.
Erica knew she wanted to be a meteorologist while in elementary school. She had a fascination with clouds, storms, and tornadoes. With this ongoing passion, Erica decided to pursue her dreams and attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. While at university, Erica joined her classmates on a Field Studies of Convection trip for two weeks across the Plains. This was her first time seeing a tornado, supercells, dust devils, and a dust storm.
While not at work, Erica loves getting out and about in our beautiful state and traveling. Her favorite activities include hiking, snowboarding, Jeeping, camping, and watersports. She also loves trying new restaurants, breweries, wineries and going to concerts.
