A novel algorithm for pilot-aided channel estimation in frequency domain is given by the approximate estimation of PM based on LS, which has much lower implementation complexity compared with some well-known algorithms and achieves a good performance on channel estimation even when COS gets the maximum SE.

An empirical mode decomposition (EMD) based adaptive filter for channel estimation in OFDM system uses decimated version of one of the decomposed IMFs of received OFDM symbol as initial weight vector, which makes the proposed EMD based AF method converge to minimum mean square error (MMSE) in less number of iterations resulting in almost 50% saving of computations.

This work shows how to cope with performance requirements, low latency and complexity, firstly reducing the problem to a series of easier single input-single output problems, and finally exploiting the correlation between adjacent tones to refine the previously obtained estimations.
